Tottenham Hotspur have done well with the appointment of Thomas Frank and the signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United, but they will know that they still have more work to do before the summer window slams shut. This is likely to include a few more reinforcements to help the Danish tactician out.
From a high-level view, Spurs do have a well-rounded squad with quality starting options in all positions. However, there is work that can be done in terms of depth. The club also need to factor in potential exits this summer and plan accordingly with the kind of players they wish to sign in the coming weeks.
Now, as per an exclusive report by EFL analysis, Tottenham Hotspur target Tyler Dibling is available for £50m this summer and would only consider continuing in the Championship with Southampton if he feels assured that the Saints would regain automatic promotion back to the Premier League by finishing 1st or 2nd.
Can Southampton gain automatic promotion?
Southampton have been making some quality additions to the squad in the Championship to prime themselves for automatic promotion. However, should Tottenham continue to push harder and tempt Dibling, there is a good chance they manage to land the teenager and bring him to the N17 for the upcoming season.
The 19-year-old winger had a breakthrough season in the Premier League last year, emerging as one of the shining lights in an otherwise very disappointing season for the Saints. He caught the eye with his readiness for the English top-flight which isn’t common for players of his age.
The English teenager is predominantly a right-winger who loves to cut onto his favoured left foot, but he can also play as a striker and as an attacking midfielder. He has already won 2 caps for the U-21 national side, and every sign points to him developing into one of the best wingers for his country in the coming years.
A chance to sign a world-class talent on a bargain?
Although moving to Tottenham would give Dibling a lot of exposure and the chance to train alongside bonafide legends like Son Heung-min, the last thing that the North London club could do would be to sign him but not give him enough game time due to the multiple options they have to play on the right-wing.
It remains to be seen how Spurs go about this Dibling situation and if they push ahead to secure his signature in the upcoming weeks. £50m for the teenager could prove to be a bargain in the long run, should he live up to his potential and let’s wait and see if Tottenham manage to convince him in the near future.
