Adam Aznou has completed his transfer from Bayern Munich to Everton. The teenager will provide much-needed competition on the left side of the defence
Adam Aznou has completed his move to Everton. The teenager has become David Moyes’ fourth signing of the summer and could yet link up with his new teammates for the final days of the club’s US tour after joining from Bayern Munich for a fee in the region of £7.8m.
The 19-year-old is expected to provide cover and competition for Vitalii Mykolenko at left back – a much-needed boost after the departure of Ashley Young, Moyes’ only senior alternative to the Ukraine international last season.
Aznou, a Morocco international, joined Bayern from Barcelona in 2022 and spent the second half of last season in Spain with Real Valladolid. He played 13 times for the side, which ultimately finished bottom of La Liga. Following his return to Germany, Aznou was named in Bayern’s squad for the Club World Cup in the USA this summer.

Upon confirmation of him joining Everton, Aznou said: “I’m so happy to be here. I’m so proud to be part of this team. The project they gave me is really good. The Premier League is the best league in the world so I’m really excited to start. The stadium is really nice. It gives you a good feeling and it’s good for our fans to support us. It’s perfect for us. I just have to say I’m really thankful to be here. I’m really proud so I will give everything in every training session and every game.”
Aznou’s decision to move to Merseyside was boosted by conversations with Moyes, he added. He said: “He talked with me, he spoke with me about the team and how he wants me. So I decided directly when I spoke with him. I decided really quickly because of the words he gave me. He gave me confidence, so I decided to sign.”
Moyes decided left-back cover was essential when he arrived at Everton but was unable to address his concerns in January. Mykolenko, who has had several injury setbacks over the past 18 months, was able to stay fit for the final months of the campaign though, and grew increasingly confident going forward under Moyes – providing assists in the draw at Brentford and the final day win at Newcastle United.
Aznou’s arrival follows deals for Carlos Alcaraz, Thierno Barry and Mark Travers and takes Everton’s summer spending beyond £50m. On his latest recruit, who has signed a four year deal, Moyes said: “We are pleased to bring Adam to Everton. He’s a young talented player with a lot of potential. Left-backs are not easy to get and we’ve brought in a young player who we hope will grow in his time at Everton.”
More work remains to be done, however, with Moyes targeting five or six additional signings before the end of the summer. Right wing and central midfield are considered priority areas for recruitment.
