One Tottenham Hotspur fan called talkSPORT to claim that they will not be relegated after their rivals West Ham were beaten.

The level of confidence left Jason Cundy astonished and prompted a spirited debate with Sports Bar co-host Jamie O’Hara over Spurs’ survival chances.

West Ham were beaten 3-0 by Brentford on Saturday afternoon, and sit only two points above the drop with three matches to play.

Spurs have a game in hand against Aston Villa on Sunday evening, live on talkSPORT, where a win would send them into 17th.

Following West Ham’s defeat, Spurs fan Mark called into the GameDay Phone-In to explain why he believes his side are safe from going down.

“We’ll be fine now, we’ll be fine,” he insisted. “West Ham are going to get three more points maximum.

“They might beat Leeds, the other two they’ll lose, so we’ve got to win two games between now and the end of the season.”

Mark added: “I think we’ll get over the line. I’ve seen West Ham fans all week saying they were going to win today.”

Cundy interjected, and called for patience from the north Londoners given they are yet to play Villa.

“If I was a Spurs fan, what I would do, if I was you, I would put the phone down, and I’d stay quiet until 9pm tomorrow night.”

“If I was you, Spurs fans, I would crawl back under that rock and stay very quiet, I would,” Cundy further explained.

“I wouldn’t be phoning up talkSPORT, baiting West Ham fans, just because they got beat, and they weren’t bad today.

“You lot, I’m yet to see a Spurs performance where I go, ‘Got a chance of staying up’, ain’t seen it.”

“You’ve got no shame, you Spurs fans… giving it big licks, ‘Yeah, we’re up, we’re staying up!’ Honestly, shameless!” he continued.

However, O’Hara wasn’t happy, and responded: “Don’t put words in my mouth… we’ve got a lot of work to do, a lot of work.”

This did little to deter Cundy, who reiterated: “Unbelievable! Just be humble, be silent, and wait until 9pm tomorrow.”

But again, O’Hara stressed that not all Spurs fans believe they’re safe just yet, with Villa a big test on their road to Premier League safety.

“We are, and we’ve got to go and do the business tomorrow against Aston Villa. And if we don’t? Well, there’s still two points, right?

“So it’s all to play for… don’t sit there and start saying that we’re all giving it the big’un and (saying) we’re staying up, we know what the situation is.”

“Shut up!” O’Hara shouted amid a continued rant from Cundy, who then replied: “Arsenal have scored as many goals today, as you’ve had wins since October 26!”

West Ham and Spurs – The run-in

Should Villa win all three points against Spurs, or even draw, there will be a big sigh of relief from West Ham fans.

They next host title-chasing Arsenal before a trip to Newcastle United, with Leeds United their last test on the final day on May 24.

After Villa, Spurs host Leeds and then face a huge clash at London rivals Chelsea.

Everton make the trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the final day, by which point the relegation battle may still be undecided.
