Nordi Mukiele unleashed an explosive assessment of his Sunderland team-mates following their latest defeat.

The Black Cats were beaten 2-0 at Bournemouth on Sunday as they dropped into the Premier League relegation zone.

Mukiele labelled his Sunderland team-mates ‘arrogant’ after their fourth successive defeat

A lacklustre display saw the visitors muster just three shots, with none of them on target.

Meanwhile, defender Kevin Danso was sent off just 17 minutes in after bringing down Evanilson.

It marked the club’s fifth league loss of the season, with Regis Le Bris’ side winning just one of their first seven matches this term.

In contrast, they did not suffer their fifth defeat last season until January.

Sunderland’s run of fourth successive reverses is also their longest losing streak in the Premier League for 11 years.

They last suffered the unwanted feat under Sam Allardyce in December 2015, losing five straight matches.

Errors leading to goals have also become a worrying issue for Le Bris to assess.

Omar Alderete was at fault for Bournemouth’s second goal as his back pass sent Evanilson through one on one.

It is the fifth error leading to a goal that Sunderland have committed already in the Premier League this season.

    What did Mukiele say?

The manner of their latest setback was not lost on Mukiele, who did not hold back at full-time.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the defender admitted: “This game is what we (have been like) from the beginning of the season, to be honest with you.

“We are not good enough. We deserve to be where we are today, definitely.

“Why? I don’t know. Maybe because we became arrogant, this is what I think.”

Mukiele, who joined the club on a four-year deal last summer, has played every minute of the Black Cats’ last six league outings.

Sunderland’s slow start follows their seventh place finish last season on their return to the top-flight.

Following an eight-year absence from the Premier League, they qualified for the Europa League, their first European campaign for 53 years.

It was also their highest finish since the 2000/01 season, when they also ended the campaign in seventh.

Le Bris has found success in the Europa League this term, though.

The Black Cats have won each of their opening two matches, beating AZ Alkmaar and Torreense.

Sunderland face Lech Poznan in Poland on Thursday before hosting Leeds United at the Stadium of Light next weekend.
