Aston Villa are in talks with Flamengo over a summer transfer for Emerson Royal, talkSPORT understands.
The right-back could return to the Premier League just two years after he left Tottenham.

Emerson featured 101 times for Spurs following his 2021 move from Barcelona, although his minutes decreased as the seasons went on.
He left for AC Milan but, after one season at San Siro, he completed a move to Brazilian outfit Flamengo.
Now it’s Villa who have become interested in the 27-year-old in what would be a surprise move.
Emerson would likely arrive as a back-up option for Matty Cash.
The defender would also have the chance to play Champions League football again after Villa won last season’s Europa League.
Villa transfer plans
Donyell Malen and Enzo Barrenechea will be leaving for Roma and Benfica respectively in the coming days.
Morgan Rogers could also be set to depart as talkSPORT understands he is keen to join Arsenal.
The Premier League champions have made the 23-year-old their top transfer target this summer.
Villa value Rogers at £80million minimum, but a bidding war may see his price increase to around £100m.
He is also open to moving abroad, with Paris Saint-Germain one club who are interested.

Meanwhile, Villa are said to have joined the race for West Ham United winger Jarrod Bowen.
The former Hull City star looks set to leave east London after their relegation from the Premier League.
West Ham do not wish to sell Bowen, and would expect talks over a move to commence at the £50million mark.
talkSPORT also understands co-owner Daniel Kretinsky is hopeful of keeping him despite their drop down to the Championship.
Kretinsky wants the club captain to stay and lead their fight for an instant return to the Premier League with promotion.
Liverpool, Newcastle United and Everton have also been linked.
