Simon Jordan fears Paul Scholes’ stint as Oldham boss transformed him into a mouthpiece for controversy.
Prior to his stint in charge of Oldham, which lasted seven games in 2019, Jordan felt Scholes was ‘a very balanced individual that made very sensible points.’
But in the following years, Scholes’ measured opinions have seemingly made way for divisive opinions on all the big talking points, many of which are shared on his podcast alongside fellow Manchester United great Nicky Butt.
Scholes’ latest gripe centered around Manchester City being found guilty of breaching the Premier League’s financial rules from 2009 to 2018.
Significant punishments are expected to be handed down, with some suspecting City could be stripped of the three Premier League titles they won in that period.
And Scholes, who was at United when City won their first of the three league titles, wants to benefit from any retrospective action.
“I want my medal,” Scholes wrote on Instagram.

However, Jordan felt the Red Devils great should not stoop as low as demanding silverware via social media.
“Maybe his experience of management at Oldham has corrupted his thinking, because all of a sudden, what he’s got is a podcast and he feels that he and Nicky have got to say controversial things,” Jordan said.
“I think he’s a bit better than that, really.”
Conversely, Arsenal hero Martin Keown understood Scholes’ frustration, but he felt the titles won by City should go unclaimed rather than being gifted to the teams who finished second.
Martin Keown calls for Manchester City’s titles to be declared void
“I can’t tell him how to behave, how to think,” Keown said.

“If I was involved, I’d be angry.
“For me, I think it just should be void. I think if we’re going to take away Manchester City’s trophies through that period, it should be made void and they should just leave it as it was.”
How many Premier League titles has Paul Scholes won?
Luckily for Scholes, he already has a significant number of Premier League winners’ medals in his trophy cabinet.
The midfielder has won the competition an absurd 11 times, beginning in 1996.
Scholes’ last Premier League medal was in 2013, which was Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season in charge of United.
Despite Scholes’ gargantuan haul of Premier League titles, he does not boast the most among all players.
Instead, that honour belongs to fellow Red Devils legend Ryan Giggs, who has won the league a record 13 times.
