Bournemouth are not in the market to sell star midfielder Alex Scott this summer, talkSPORT understands.

Scott has been attracting interest from a number of big-name Premier League clubs, with Arsenal reportedly seeing an approach rejected for him.

The Englishman was a key player for the Cherries last season as they secured a European finish under Andoni Iraola.

Iraola’s exit to join Liverpool may have prompted a summer exodus.

However, Bournemouth insist that Scott is not for sale and are looking to tie the former Bristol City man down to a new deal.

talkSPORT understands the 22-year-old was offered a fresh contract earlier this year, but the club are under no pressure to secure his signature immediately.

He still has two years left on his current deal at the Vitality Stadium and Bournemouth are content with the player, regardless of whether or not he extends his stay this summer.

    Braced for offers

Bournemouth’s Scott stance will come as a blow to interested parties.

talkSPORT understands that Arsenal supremo Andrea Berta made an approach for Scott, but was informed that Bournemouth do not want to sell.

Manchester United are expected to explore a move for the England international as they look to strengthen their midfield.

The player himself is also appreciated by Manchester City and Chelsea, with interested parties expected to test Bournemouth’s resolve in the coming days.

Chelsea could well look to step up their interest in Scott after being dealt a setback in their pursuit of Granit Xhaka.

The Blues had an opening bid of £8million rejected for the Sunderland star, but he is now expected to stay at the Stadium of Light.

Meanwhile Man City have completed the £116m signing of Elliot Anderson in a transfer record for a British player.

Bournemouth are believed to value Scott at £80million, and it remains to be seen how they would respond to such an offer.

The south coast side are gearing up for their first-ever European campaign, after securing Europa League qualification last term.

Scott played a key role in this, making 37 appearances and scoring three goals in the Premier League.

An impressive campaign culminated in him being invited to join England’s pre-World Cup training camp in Florida.

While Scott did not make his senior Three Lions debut in either of their friendly clashes with New Zealand and Costa Rica, he will no doubt have his sights set on this in the near future.

But it remains to be seen if this will come as a Bournemouth player, with no shortage of big-name sides interested.

The ex-Bristol City man has made 89 appearances for the Cherries since arriving three years ago in a deal thought to be worth around £25m.

Having represented Southampton and Bournemouth at youth level, Scott joined Guernsey FC in 2019.

Born on the Channel Islands, Scott received his first senior England call-up for last November’s World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania, but did not feature then either.
