Man City have secured the signature of Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi.
Despite only signing a new three-year contract to stay in the United States back in October, the Argentinian legend could not resist the opportunity of working with Pep Guardiola once again.
Messi is set to join up with City’s squad this summer, although there are certain strings attached to the agreement.
He has asked that the Premier League delay any potential points reduction that they may be planning to give City for breaching Financial Fair Play rules.
Due to Messi’s reputation and the sheer global interest in the move, there is a good chance that Premier League clubs will agree to his request.
Messi has demanded that all of Ronaldo’s records be rescinded
In addition to the FFP punishment delay, the 38-year-old has asked for Cristiano Ronaldo’s individual records and accolades to be handed over to him.
A discussion is now underway over whether the 2007 and 2008 PFA Player of the Year awards can be retroactively changed, as well as Ronaldo’s Golden Boot.
Considering that Ronaldo played for United, City have no issues with these requests, but it could cause plenty of consternation on the other side of Manchester.
When will Messi play his first game for Man City?
The Argentinian is not believed to be a big fan of British weather, so while he is happy to start the season in August, he may opt for a long rest between September and March, before returning to the UK when it’s warmer.
There have always been doubts over whether Messi can indeed perform on a cold, wet, windy night in Stoke, but unfortunately, that often posed question may be left unanswered.
As you may have gathered, this is an April Fool’s story. Have a good day and don’t believe everything you read online!
